Happy Birthday, Alex Trebek!

Did you know that it's Alex Trebek's 75th birthday today? I did not, because although I enjoy Jeopardy! I am very bad at it. But here's a quick doodle mosaic based on the show's Facebook image! Make Your Own Pan Am 2015 Logo!

It's been a couple of weeks since my 100 Days of Mosaics, a run where I did 100 days of digital brick mosaic concepts. It's nice to get a look at what a physical mosaic would look like, but how many pieces would it take to make any of them? With the Pan Am Games coming up, I thought I would look into how to figure out exactly how many bricks it would take to make the TO 2015 logo. For reference, here's the digital concept, and below are my instructions!

It *should* top out at 522 pieces, and I've made it so that they are all basic pieces. At 20"x10" this will rest perfectly on two small baseplates. Click the image for a .pdf file of the instructions, give this a shot, and let me know how it goes!

100 Days of Mosaics – Day 100 – Coke and Bagels

"Coke and Bagels." Finally, Day 100 of 100 days of mosaics. Managed to capture a mix of portraits, landscapes, anime, and pets, and I'm pretty happy with them. This one, for 40"x50", is a from a picture a friend took of another friend back in those high school days. What's next after these 100 mosaics? A break. I've also come up with something while working on these, so I'll share that in a bit. There's a LEGO convention to prepare for, too! http://toronto.brickfete.com/ Until next time, to absent friends.
